The Patriots Release RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Add Four Undrafted Rookies to Roster

On Monday, the New England Patriots made five roster moves, including the release of veteran running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn and the signing of four rookie free agents. Among the new signings were running back Terrell Jennings, offensive guard Ryan Johnson, linebacker Jay Person, and Australian defensive end Jotham Russell. These players earned their spots on the team after successful tryouts at the Patriots’ rookie minicamp. Russell will receive a roster exemption as an International Pathway Program player due to his background.

Vaughn, 27, had signed with the Patriots’ practice squad in December following his release from the Buccaneers, who drafted him in the third round of the 2020 draft. In his career, Vaughn has played in 43 regular-season games, totaling 13 rushes for 384 yards with two touchdowns and 14 receptions for 81 yards with one touchdown. He has also appeared in four postseason games, including the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl LV win.

Jennings, 23, had a successful college career at Florida A&M, playing in 44 games and totaling 281 rushing attempts for 1,860 yards and 24 touchdowns. Johnson,
