The lawsuit alleges that the company is using patented technology from US Patent No. 8,535,711, titled “Medication Disposal System,” which was issued on September 17, 2013.

The technology outlined in the patent is a key component of Verde’s Deterra Drug Deactivation Disposal System. Daniels Health offers disposal services for sharps, biohazardous, medical, and pharmaceutical waste. According to the complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota, Verde alleges that Daniels Health is infringing on its intellectual property rights by unauthorized use of patented technology in their products and services.
