Panthers Secure Derrick Brown with $96 Million, Four-Year Extension

Panthers ink Pro Bowl DT Derrick Brown to lucrative four-year, $96 million contract extension

The Carolina Panthers have secured Derrick Brown as a cornerstone of their defense with a four-year contract extension. The deal is worth $96 million, with $63.2 million guaranteed.

Brown, the Panthers’ 2020 first-round pick out of Auburn, has been a consistent force in Carolina’s defense, playing 66 out of 67 games in his four-year career. Last season was a standout year for Brown, setting a single-season record for defensive linemen with 103 total tackles. He also recorded seven tackles for loss and 15 quarterback hits, earning him his first Pro Bowl appearance.

Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero praised Brown’s work ethic and ability to make plays all over the field despite his size. With a new coaching staff in place led by head coach Dave Canales, the Panthers wanted to secure Brown’s future beyond his rookie contract. The $24 million annual salary now makes Brown the fourth-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL, showing the team’s commitment to keeping a strong defensive presence on their roster for years to come.
