Palm Springs Police Arrest Driver for Rampaging SUV Incident that Caused Extensive Damage

Driver under the influence crashes into two Palm Springs businesses

Jose Uzaga, a 30-year-old man, was arrested after causing destruction in Palm Springs by driving his car through multiple businesses. The incident began around 10:17 p.m. on a Friday when calls were made about a maroon SUV attempting to ram into the ‘Forever Marilyn’ statue on Museum Way. The SUV was stopped by barricades before reaching the statue.

The driver then proceeded to drive down N. Palm Canyon Drive and through a walkway between several businesses in the area. At the end of the walkway, the car collided with the rear window of one business and caused extensive damage to the interior of another while trying to turn around. The car then collided with another parked car along Palm Canyon Drive before pushing it out of the way and fleeing the scene.

Video posted by the Palm Springs Police Department on Facebook shows the SUV ramming another car in an escape attempt. The SUV was later found crashed into another vehicle along the 300 block of S. Palm Canyon Drive, and Uzaga is suspected of driving under the influence. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the PSPD Traffic Division or provide anonymous information to Crime Stoppers.
