The Pacific Coast League is heating up as the baseball season enters its final stretch. Teams like Northwood, Beckman, Irvine, Woodbridge, and University are all vying for the league title and the coveted CIF playoff berths. Northwood and Beckman currently hold the top two spots, but other teams are not far behind. Even Portola is in the mix for a playoff spot. The competition is fierce, with Irvine coach Gabriel Cota acknowledging that any team could come out on top on a given day.
Over at Northwood High School, three girls water polo players were recognized for their outstanding performance by being named to the All-CIF Division 4 team. This includes senior Yoshi Elsefi and juniors Audrey Mariano and Nina Elias. The team, led by coach Kyle Kim-E, reached the CIF finals for the first time in school history, although they fell short against Rosary. With Mariano and Elias returning next season, Kim-E is optimistic about the future of the program.
At Woodbridge High School, several student-athletes from the soccer and swim teams have signed national letters of intent. The soccer team, which clinched the Pacific Coast League title, saw four players commit to various universities: Maci Land with Loyola Marymount, Sabine Ramos with Cal Poly Pomona, Bella Venegas with Chico State University
