Dr. Jennifer Baldwin Crowned as ‘Healthcare Hero’ by the CHA

Dr. Jennifer Baldwin of UConn Health has been recognized as a 2024 Connecticut Hospital Association Healthcare Hero for her outstanding leadership and professional accomplishments in the healthcare industry. As a hospitalist serving as director of hospital medicine, Baldwin is celebrated for expanding the hospitalist program at UConn Health and creating a successful nocturnist program to accommodate increasing evening patient volumes.

Baldwin’s nomination highlighted her effectiveness in staffing the hospitalist service, educating residents and medical students, and developing a culture of safety and high reliability at John Dempsey Hospital. The CHA honors exceptional health care workers from each member hospital with the Healthcare Hero Award, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the field and the community at large.

Expressing her gratitude for the award, Baldwin stated, “I am fortunate to work with so many exceptional clinicians at UConn Health who are equally deserving of this award.” She values the dedication and compassion of her colleagues who work tirelessly to improve patients’ experiences and outcomes. Baldwin, a 2004 graduate of the UConn School of Medicine, is dedicated to delivering the highest-quality care to all patients.

At the CHA’s annual meeting, honorees received a proclamation from Governor Lamont’s office commending them for their outstanding leadership and professional accomplishments in the healthcare services sector. The recognition celebrated their excellence and extraordinary service to the community, organization, and State of Connecticut, highlighting their positive impact on the healthcare industry.
