The Upstate high school girls athlete of the week for May 13-19 has been announced, and the finalists have been recognized for their outstanding performances in various sports. The voting for the award will conclude at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Among the finalists is Ayanna Hunt from Westside, who excelled in shot put and discus events at the Class AAAA track and field state championship meet. Miah Johnson from Riverside also made it onto the list by winning the 800 meters and 1600 meters at the same championship meet.

Kinsley Kay of Belton-Honea Path showcased her skills as a pitcher by throwing a complete game in a 5-1 victory against Palmetto in the Class AAA Upper State championship game. In seven innings, she allowed only five hits, all singles, while striking out six and walking one. Halle Tompkins from Palmetto also impressed with a four-hit shutout and nine strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Woodruff in a Class AAA Upper State finals elimination game.

Alina Uguz from Christ Church secured wins in high jump and triple jump at the Class A track and field state championship meet, showcasing exceptional talent and determination in her respective sports.
