Outstanding Athletes from Austin Area Recognized for Exemplary Performance in Sports and Academics

Austin-area high school sports athletes recognized by Greater Austin Sports Foundation

Three outstanding high school athletes from the Austin area have recently been honored by the Greater Austin Sports Foundation for their exceptional performance in both sports and academics.

Neliaj Deleon, a senior goalkeeper from Georgetown, has been recognized for her impressive soccer career. She played a key role in helping her team achieve a 22-1-4 season and secure a spot in the regional tournament. In addition to her success on the field, she was named to the Class 5A all-state tournament team last year. Deleon will continue her soccer career at Vanderbilt next season.

Savannah Skopal, a senior setter from Rouse, has also been recognized for her remarkable volleyball career. She was named to the all-state volleyball team for four consecutive years and finished her senior season with an impressive record of 1,586 assists, 386 digs, 157 kills, 74 aces, and 70 blocks. Skopal will continue her volleyball career at Rice University.

Lastly, Josiah Moseley from Stony Point has been named the 2023 Central Texas boys basketball player of the year. As a senior, he led his team to their first-ever state tournament appearance and was also named Gatorade’s Texas boys basketball player of the year. Moseley will be playing basketball at Villanova next season. These three athletes are truly deserving of recognition for their outstanding achievements and we wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
