In a recent filing in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Oura Health Oy, the makers of the Oura Ring, have stated that they believe their patent and copyright lawsuit against Ultrahuman Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. should proceed simultaneously with a trade investigation related to smart ring products.
Oura Health believes that staying the lawsuit is not appropriate as the issues being addressed in the International Trade Commission’s investigation are different from those in their legal action. The Finnish company pointed out that their lawsuit involves an additional patent and three copyrighted works that are not part of the ITC proceeding. Therefore, they believe it is necessary for both proceedings to move forward in order to properly address all the relevant issues.
The company emphasized the importance of protecting their intellectual property rights and ensuring that they are able to enforce their patents and copyrights against infringing parties. They are committed to pursuing legal action to defend their products and innovations in the marketplace.
