Ouest-France Strike Threatens Printing of Friday’s Daily Amidst Ongoing Unions-Management Tensions

Newspaper employees at Ouest-France go on strike following breakdown of mandatory annual negotiations

On Thursday, a strike by the inter-union affected the daily Ouest-France, which is expected to prevent the printing of the newspaper dated Friday due to a failure of obligatory annual negotiations (NAO). The union representatives explained that management reported poor results to reject requests for an increase in salary during an NAO meeting on Tuesday. As a result, the rotativists, who print the newspaper at night, voted for a strike, with plans for additional strikes if feedback is not received from management.

The dialogue between the unions and management is ongoing, and while the paper versions of the daily and other newspapers belonging to the Ouest-France group may not come out in print on Friday due to the strike movement, the newspaper will still be released in digital form on Friday. Employees of Ouest-France have been discontent with the lack of salary increases in recent years, especially in comparison to higher-paid positions within the organization. While management disputes some of the figures provided by the unions, discussions are ongoing to address their concerns. Despite this setback affecting printing operations at Ouest-France, its readers can still access its content online as usual.
