Nearly 300 leaders from the sports industry gathered at Kia Center in Orlando last night to celebrate the city’s recognition as the top Sports Business City for Event Hosting by Sports Business Journal. The event brought together uniforms and trophies from local teams, as well as interactions with mascots from around Orange County.
The evening kicked off with opening remarks from Amy Saunders, Chair of the Arnold Palmer Group and daughter of the late golfer Arnold Palmer. This was followed by a panel discussion led by SBJ’s Abe Madkour, which included influential figures such as Magic CEO Alex Martins, Orlando City SC and Pride President of Business Operations Jarrod Dillon, UCF AD Terry Mohajir, and Greater Orlando Sports Commission President & CEO Jason Siegel.
Among the VIPs in attendance were UCF football coach Gus Malzahn, UCF men’s basketball coach Johnny Dawkins, as well as members of the Magic, Orlando City, and the Pride. The event concluded with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer leading a champagne toast at the Sky Lounge, offering a stunning view of downtown Orlando.
