Navigating Your Way Through Orienteering World Cup Round 2 in Italy

This weekend, the Orienteering World Cup moves from Olten, Switzerland to Genoa, Italy. Round 2 of the competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, both at the edge of the Mediterranean. Saturday’s sprint arena is located in Genoa Voltri west of the city center, while Sunday’s sprint relay arena is situated in Nervi Park to the east of Genoa center.

Unlike previous weekend’s sprint races, athletes will face more climbing meters and a mix of park and urban orienteering in Genoa. Close to 250 athletes from 30 different nations have registered for the races in Italy. As of Round 1, Tuomas Heikkilä from Finland leads the men’s World Cup standings, while Natalia Gemperle and Simona Aebersold from Switzerland are tied at the top of the women’s standings.

The races will be broadcasted live on IOF TV as well as on national TV channels such as SVT (Sweden), YLE (Finland), and CzTV Sport (Czechia). Commentary in English, French, and German will be provided by various hosts for viewers’ convenience. The ticket price for IOF TV broadcasts is 9 EUR per race. Fans can also access start lists, results, GPS tracking, maps, and links to photos on IOF LIVE.
