Oracle CEO Larry Ellison Puts Health-Care at the Forefront of Company’s Growth Strategy in Nashville

Oracle is relocating its global headquarters to Nashville

Ellison has expressed his belief that the health-care industry is at the forefront of their concerns. During a fireside chat at the Oracle Health Summit in Nashville, he admitted that his announcement was spontaneous, following a conversation with Frist, a seasoned health-care industry veteran and former Senator from Tennessee. Despite being relatively new to the health-care space, Ellison emphasized that Oracle feels a moral obligation to address the pressing issues within the industry.

Oracle has been expanding its presence in the health care sector by acquiring Cerner, a leading medical records software company for $28 billion. The company’s commitment to this sector was solidified when they announced their plans to construct a $1.2 billion campus in Nashville. This news was met with excitement as Nashville has long been a key player in the health-care landscape, boasting a thriving ecosystem of health systems, startups, and investment firms. The city’s reputation as a health-care hub was solidified when HCA Healthcare, a pioneering for-profit hospital company was established there in 1968. This served as a catalyst for attracting a large pool of health-care professionals and organizations to Nashville.

Oracle has been constructing its campus in Nashville for approximately three years as reported by The Tennessean. Ellison stressed his company’s commitment to the city stating that their employees enjoy being there and view it as the focal point of their future endeavors. However, Oracle did not provide an immediate response to CNBC’s request for comment on this matter.
