OPmobility Expands Spring Hill Plant with $3 Million Investment, Creating 186 New Jobs in Tennessee’s Booming Automotive Industry

Auto technology manufacturer to undergo $3 million expansion plan

In a recent announcement, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) revealed that OPmobility, formerly known as Plastic Omnium, will be expanding its plant in Spring Hill with a $3 million investment. This expansion will enable OPmobility to offer more products for electric vehicle production and create 186 new jobs, bringing the total number of employees at the plant to 204.

The company has been operating in Tennessee since 2015 and currently has locations in Chattanooga, Smyrna, Hendersonville, and Spring Hill. Headquartered in France, OPmobility employs over 560 people across the state.

TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter expressed his excitement about the latest addition to Tennessee’s booming automotive industry. “We always appreciate foreign investment in this state,” he said. “Brands like OPmobility help strengthen our reputation for being a state-friendly to those businesses outside our borders.”

OPmobility’s U.S. operations director, Xavier Maury, also expressed his enthusiasm about the new challenges presented by the transformation of mobility in the automotive industry. “We are proud to be engaging and pursuing industrial excellence in Tennessee with one of the top OEMs in vehicle electrification,” he said. The company provides automotive and other mobility manufacturers with solutions such as intelligent exterior systems and battery and hydrogen electrification technology.

It is not clear how TNECD may contribute to the company for its expansion at this time. However, it is clear that this latest investment is an exciting development for both OPmobility and Tennessee’s growing automotive industry.
