OpenAI’s Quest for AGI: Enhancing Security and Safeguarding User Safety through New Security Committee

OpenAI initiates training of new AI model and establishes Safety Committee for decision-making guidance

OpenAI is currently working on its next AI model, which aims to surpass the capabilities of its previous versions and bring it closer to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). To support this advancement, the company has established a new Security Committee that will provide recommendations on critical security decisions for OpenAI projects and operations.

In May, OpenAI released its latest AI model, GPT-4o, which was faster and more capable than previous versions. While the company continues to develop industry-leading models, they emphasize the importance of fostering debate around their latest advancements.

The new Security Committee, led by AI experts and the company’s CEO, will evaluate and enhance security processes to provide recommendations on critical security decisions. Technical and security experts will support this work, and the Committee will share its recommendations with the OpenAI Board and publicly update on the adopted measures.

Over the next 90 days, the Security Committee will work on developing processes and safeguards for OpenAI with the aim of ensuring consistent security measures for new technologies. The company’s focus on security is crucial in moving towards AGI while keeping its users safe from potential threats that may arise from such an advanced technology.
