On Our Sleeves 5K: A Community Celebrates Children’s Mental Health, Raises Funds for Foundation Efforts

5K charity run supports mental health services for children

Almost 2,000 people participated in the On Our Sleeves 5K event on Saturday, taking advantage of the perfect weather for a good cause. The community run and walk kicked off at the Columbus Crew’s Lower.com Field and aimed to raise awareness, break stigmas, and raise funds for On Our Sleeves, a foundation dedicated to addressing children’s mental health.

Whitney Raglin Bignall, associate clinical director for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, emphasized the importance of talking about mental health and breaking stigmas surrounding it. She highlighted the significance of bringing awareness and fundraising efforts to help support this cause. Over 6 million people across the United States have engaged with the movement’s free pediatric mental health education resources since 2018.

The On Our Sleeves initiative provides free mental health resources to families across the country. These resources include educational materials, toolkits, and support groups to help parents navigate their child’s mental health journey. The proceeds from the event will support the foundation in continuing to provide these valuable resources.
