Omaha’s Maple Athletic Complex Battles the Aftermath of Severe Thunderstorms

Omaha Sports Complex Soaked by Heavy Rainfall from Severe Storms

The Maple Athletic Complex near 120th and Fort Streets in Omaha is still dealing with the aftermath of severe thunderstorms that hit the area four days ago. Despite their efforts, the soccer turfs are still too wet for play and are currently closed. However, the tennis courts have dried out and are now open again, much to the delight of players like Mike Mundt.

The complex manager, Landon Arnold, described how the creek in the back flooded and overflowed, causing water to come through multiple doors. The city parks and trails near the sports complex were also affected by the floods, but cleanup efforts are progressing well and are not expected to impact parkgoers over the holiday weekend.

Arnold expressed concern about the upcoming league games scheduled for Sunday, as the fields may not dry out in time. However, he remains optimistic that the soccer turf will be back open by Tuesday. The staff at the complex are working tirelessly to ensure that the facilities are ready for use as soon as possible.
