Top gymnasts Simone Biles, Suni Lee, and Gabby Douglas set to compete at Core Hydration Classic

Gymnastics fans can expect a thrilling competition at the upcoming Core Hydration Classic, as three Olympic all-around gold medalists – Simone Biles, Suni Lee, and Gabby Douglas – are set to compete. This marks the first gymnastics meet to feature three Olympic all-around gold medalists and will be aired live from Hartford, Connecticut on CNBC and Peacock on May 18 from 7-9 p.m. ET. Viewers can also catch the event streaming on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app for CNBC subscribers.

The registered field for the event includes other notable gymnasts such as Tokyo Olympic floor exercise gold medalist Jade Carey, Olympic team silver medalist Jordan Chiles, and two-time world all-around medalist Shilese Jones. Following the Core Hydration Classic, gymnastics fans can look forward to the Xfinity U.S. Championships taking place from May 30 to June 2 in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Olympic Trials scheduled from June 27-30 in Minneapolis.

Simone Biles is expected to make her 2024 competition debut at the Classic after overcoming a life-threatening aneurysm that forced her to retire from gymnastics in 2017. Suni Lee has already competed in two events in 2024 after overcoming two different kidney diseases diagnosed in early 2023. Gabby Douglas has recently returned to competition at the American Classic after taking a break from gymnastics following her successful career.

Each athlete has faced their own challenges and obstacles on their journeys back to competitive gymnastics, showcasing their determination and resilience. The winner of the Olympic Trials all-around automatically secures a spot on the five-woman Olympic team for the Paris Games, with the rest of the team being selected by a committee based on results from domestic and international competitions dating back to September of last year, including the Core Hydration Classic.

Overall, this event promises to be an exciting showcase of some of the best gymnasts in history competing against each other once again on national soil before heading off to Paris for another historic Olympics performance!
