After claiming their first conference championship since 2019, OKWU Baseball has secured a spot in the NAIA national tournament. The Eagles needed to win all four games in the KCAC tournament to advance, which they accomplished by defeating Friends University twice, Tabor, and Kansas Wesleyan.
In the title game, Ashton Luerta was outstanding on the mound for the Eagles. He faced 12 batters and struck out 11 of them, earning praise from Head Coach Kirk Kelly who highlighted his dominance during the game.
OKWU Baseball is now eagerly waiting to find out their opponent for the first round of the NAIA tournament next Monday. Coach Kelly is optimistic about his team’s chances of winning a national championship this season and believes they have what it takes to bring home the title.
More information will be available later this week when Wesleyan learns about their first-round opponent on Thursday. Stay tuned for updates on their journey in the NAIA tournament.
