Oklahoma’s Health Departments and Businesses Collaborate for Workplace Wellness Initiative

Oklahoma Health Departments Partner with Businesses to Enhance Employee Health and Wellness

In northeast Oklahoma, health departments are collaborating with businesses to improve the wellness of their employees. The Oklahoma State Department of Health stresses the importance of promoting employee health to not only enhance overall health but also to help businesses succeed. In 2019, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched Work@Health in Oklahoma, offering businesses tools and resources to establish or enhance health and wellness programs.

Chrissy Swift, a Health Educator at the Rogers County Health Department, emphasizes the significance of businesses participating in programs like Work@Health. By demonstrating that they prioritize their employees’ well-being, businesses can use these programs as a resource for employee retention and recruitment. Swift highlights that having such programs in place shows employees that their employers care about their health and well-being.

Businesses in district 4 counties, including Craig, Delaware, Mayes, Nowata, Ottawa, Rogers, Wagoner, and Washington, have the opportunity to participate in a two-day in-person training program later this month. Interested businesses can contact the Rogers County Health Department for more information on how to get involved in the program. This initiative aims to support businesses in creating a healthy workplace environment and promoting the overall health and well-being of their employees.
