Protests supporting Palestine break out at NYU’s Stern School of Business

Hundreds of NYU students gathered in support of Palestinians, resulting in a rally that took place at the university. The protest, which saw hundreds of participants, began with an encampment in Gould Plaza near the Stern School of Business. Police later intervened, removing tents and arresting dozens of demonstrators. After the police action, protesters relocated to West 3rd Street in Greenwich Village and began marching in the area.

NYU officials reported a breach in barriers and cited disruptive behavior as grounds for intervention, while protesters emphasized their demands for acknowledgement of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. Throughout the day, students and faculty members gathered at the school’s steps to support the cause. Various pro-Palestinian organizations also joined the protest and set up tents in solidarity. Despite being ordered to clear the plaza area by 4 p.m., participants in the rally continued to voice their grievances. Many expressed the desire for the university to address and denounce the atrocities being committed against Palestinians. The protest also attracted supporters from the student body and beyond, indicating a strong backing for the movement.
