Novak Djokovic Withdraws from French Open after Knee Injury, Leaving Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to Miss the Final Tournament in 60 Years

Novak Djokovic withdrew from the French Open after a scan revealed a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. Despite winning his match against Francisco Cerundolo, he had to receive treatment during the game due to the injury. In a social media post, Djokovic thanked his medical team and expressed his determination to recover and return to the court as soon as possible.

The injury occurred after Djokovic won a five-set match against Cerundolo, following a demanding third-round match against Lorenzo Musetti. He blamed the slippery courts at Roland Garros for potentially exacerbating his knee issue. As a result of his withdrawal, Casper Ruud received a walkover to the semi-finals.

Djokovic’s absence from the tournament means that Jannik Sinner will become Italy’s first number one in the sport next week. This year’s French Open men’s final will not feature Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, or Roger Federer for the first time since 2004.
