Mark Zackery pledges his loyalty to Notre Dame football: ‘I know where my true passion lies’

Notre Dame football recently secured the commitment of Mark Zackery IV, a highly sought after four-star cornerback from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Zackery’s decision strengthens an already top-ranked recruiting class for the Fighting Irish in the class of 2025.

In an interview with the Indy Star, Zackery shared that he had always known he wanted to attend Notre Dame, but wanted to explore other programs before making his final decision. However, after visiting the campus, he felt a strong connection to the school and its football program and ultimately chose to commit without taking all of his official visits.

Standing at 5-foot-1.5 and weighing 164 pounds, Zackery is regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in the nation in the class of 2025. During his time at Ben Davis High School, Zackery excelled on both offense and defense, contributing significantly to the team’s success. His impressive performance on the field led Ben Davis to a championship victory and a spot in the Super 25 national rankings.

Zackery cited Notre Dame’s defensive backs coach, Mike Mickens, as a key factor in his decision to commit to the school. Mickens’ history of developing talented defensive backs played a significant role in Zackery’s choice to join the Fighting Irish. With Zackery’s commitment, Notre Dame’s recruiting class under head coach Marcus Freeman now boasts 22 commitments and is one of the most talented classes in recent years for Notre Dame football program.

Zackery expressed his confidence in the recruiting class’s potential to compete for a national championship during his time at Notre Dame by stating “I believe this class has what it takes to win it all.”
