The NFL’s 2024 schedule is set to be released on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET, according to Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal. This announcement comes after signs had previously pointed to the schedule being released next week, as reported by Pro Football Talk (PFT). The league confirmed the release date in a memo sent to teams by executive vice president of media distribution Hans Schroeder on Tuesday.
Initially, teams had expected the schedule to be released on Thursday, but the reason for the delay was not explained in the memo. One possible reason for the delay could have been the NFL’s recent decision to play two games on Wednesday, December 25. Schroeder had previously stated that the league would not schedule games on Christmas when it falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday. This decision required the league to select the Christmas matchups, negotiate broadcasting rights, and schedule participating teams to also play on the preceding Saturday.
Despite this delay, football fans can expect to see their favorite team’s schedule soon. While it may not be released as early as anticipated, it will eventually become public knowledge in due time.
