NFLPA Proposes Revolutionary Change to Offseason Program, Eliminating Physical Workouts and Providing More Time for Recovery

In 2025, Titans could experience significant shifts in offseason program.

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is reportedly working on a proposal to change the offseason program for the Tennessee Titans and other NFL teams. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the proposal would eliminate physical spring work and replace it with virtual classroom work. Players would not report to the facility until mid-June to early July, allowing for a longer ramp-up to training camp. No practices would be held until then.

The current offseason program is divided into three phases, with mostly voluntary participation. The first phase consists of meetings, the second involves on-field individual drills, and the third includes organized team activities and mandatory minicamp. The proposed changes would not eliminate OTAs completely, but would readjust the timing of when they occur.

This new approach is designed to help players avoid injuries and give them more time to recover between seasons. Many players reportedly found success with a similar setup during the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposal is expected to be finalized this summer and, if approved by the NFL, could go into effect as soon as 2025. The story originally appeared on Titans Wire.
