In the first quarter of the year, the NFL dominated the list of the top 50 most-watched telecasts, with a whopping 20 programs making the cut. Even scripted shows benefited from being aired around NFL football games, with nine of them appearing on the list. The bar to make it into the top 50 was set at around 7.2 million viewers.
One show that saw a significant boost from being aired after the Super Bowl was “Tracker” on CBS, which became the No. 1 new TV show. Despite its late start time, the post-Super Bowl slot helped secure “Tracker”’s pilot in the No. 24 spot overall in the first quarter. CBS also had an episode of “Fire Country” on the list at No. 49.
