The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently announced that Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport has been recognized as the world’s best new airport terminal by Skytrax, a global airport evaluation firm. This prestigious accolade was awarded to Terminal A less than a month after receiving a five-star rating from Skytrax, which audited the terminal’s facilities, operations, and customer service.
Governor Phil Murphy expressed his pride in the recognition, calling it a well-deserved honor for the ongoing redevelopment efforts at Newark Liberty International Airport. This marks the second consecutive time that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has received this honor, as LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B was named the best terminal in 2023. These two airports are the only ones in North America to have received the highest Skytrax rating.
The evaluation process for the award included surveys to passengers regarding various aspects of terminal facilities, staff service, check-in, arrivals, transfers, security, customs, and shopping. Terminal A officially opened in 2023 after the closure of the 50-year-old former Terminal A. The $2.7 billion investment in the new terminal represents the Port Authority’s largest-ever single investment in New Jersey, as well as the state’s largest design-build project.
The Port Authority is committed to transforming major airports in the New York and New Jersey metro area through its $30 billion project. The next phase of this ambitious endeavor will involve
