New York Yankees Outfield Prospect Everson Pereira Faces Season-Ending Elbow Surgery

Yankees outfield prospect Everson Pereira to undergo elbow surgery

Outfield prospect Everson Pereira of the New York Yankees is facing a season-ending elbow surgery, according to sources close to the team. The surgery that Pereira will undergo is an internal brace procedure, which is a newer version of Tommy John surgery, known for its shorter recovery time.

Another promising outfield prospect, Jasson Dominguez, who also made his MLB debut last year, had the same brace procedure done last September. Dominguez was recently activated from the injured list by the Yankees and sent down to Triple-A Scranton for further development.

Despite struggling during his call-up last season, Pereira remains highly regarded by the Yankees as their fifth-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He had a strong .859 OPS at Triple-A this season before being sidelined by injury. With the possibility of being a valuable trade chip for the Yankees at the upcoming deadline, Pereira’s absence from the field may impact their plans to acquire bullpen and infield help.
