New York Jets Sign All-Pro Running Back Tarik Cohen, Eyeing His Return to Football after Injuries

Tarik Cohen set to pursue NFL return with the Jets

The New York Jets have signed running back Tarik Cohen to a one-year deal, with the hope of bringing his explosive playmaking ability and returning skills to their team. Despite facing setbacks in the past, including a serious injury that required a long recovery period and another injury to his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout, Cohen announced his comeback in 2023 and was signed to the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad.

However, he was released by the Panthers earlier this month. The Jets saw potential in Cohen and expressed excitement at having him on the team. Head coach Robert Saleh mentioned how valuable he could be with the new kickoff rules in place. During his time with the Bears, Cohen earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors in 2018. He showcased versatility as a running back and receiver, tallying over 1,000 rushing yards and over 1,500 receiving yards with a total of 14 touchdowns. Additionally, Cohen proved to be a dynamic return specialist, with impressive stats in kick and punt returns during his tenure with the Bears.

The Jets are hopeful that Cohen will make a full recovery and contribute to the team in various roles, including as a playmaker on offense and special teams. With his skill set and potential, Cohen could be a valuable asset to the Jets as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
