New World Record Set at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest as Defending Champion Miki Sudo Overshadows Joey Chestnut’s Absence

On Thursday, a new world record was set at the annual Nathan’s hot dog eating contest. Miki Sudo, a 38-year-old from Florida, consumed an impressive 51 hot dogs in just 10 minutes. This marked her tenth consecutive victory in the contest and cemented her place as the defending champion.

In a surprising turn of events, Patrick Bertoletti took home the crown for the men, devouring an astounding 58 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. This made him the first male champion in over a decade besides Joey Chestnut. Unfortunately, Chestnut was not present at this year’s competition due to a sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods that conflicted with his relationship with the Major League Eating organization.

The organization issued a statement on social media explaining their disappointment with Chestnut’s decision to work with Impossible Foods instead of continuing his partnership with them. They had gone to great lengths to accommodate him and even allowed him to participate in a rival unbranded hot dog eating contest on Labor Day. However, it seems that Chestnut and his management team have prioritized a new partnership with a different hot dog brand over their long-standing relationship with Nathan’s.

Instead of competing in Nathan’s Fourth of July hot dog eating contest, Chestnut will face off against his longtime rival Takeru Kobayashi in a one-on-one matchup on Labor Day. The time and location of the competition are still unknown.

Meanwhile, another record was set on Thursday when Eric Badland chugged an entire gallon of lemonade in just 21 seconds. When given the microphone, Badland let out a triumphant roar and celebrated his new world record achievement.
