New World Record for 200m Freestyle as Ariarne Titmus Defeats Mollie O’Callaghan

In an intense race at the Australian Olympic swimming trials, Ariarne Titmus broke the world record for the 200-meter freestyle. The reigning Olympic champion in this event, Titmus completed the race in 1:52.23, clocking half a second faster than Mollie O’Callaghan’s previous best time of 1:52.85.

The competition was so fast that O’Callaghan, who held the world record before the competition, also managed to beat her own time by .37 seconds. It was a thrilling moment for both athletes, as they both pushed themselves to achieve their best performances.

Titmus expressed her excitement after the race, saying that she finally felt like she had produced a swim that truly represented her training. She credited the competitive field for their fast times and said that it was great to have strong competitors pushing each other to perform better.

Both Titmus and O’Callaghan train together at St Peters Western Swim Club with Coach Dean Boxall. With the Olympics starting on July 26th, these two rivals are set to face off again in the pool. However, this time around, Titmus is poised to take home both gold medals in the 200m and 400m freestyle events once they are officially confirmed as world records.
