Jannik Sinner has achieved the impressive feat of becoming the world number one without even realizing it as he advanced to the semi-finals of the French Open for the first time. While the Italian player defeated Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, Novak Djokovic had to withdraw from the tournament due to a knee injury. With Djokovic out, Sinner will take over the top spot in the rankings when they are updated next Monday.

This achievement makes the 22-year-old the first man from Italy to reach the world number one ranking in tennis.
