The Amir family has donated 200 million shekels for the construction of the facility, and initially, it will train 60 students per year, operating on the basis of the Carmel Hospital and the Clalit Health Insurance Fund. Eventually, the number of students will increase to 150 per year.

The new medical faculty at the University of Haifa is one of two medical schools set to open in Israel next year. The private Reichman University also plans to launch its own medical faculty. In total, there will be seven medical faculties at various universities in Israel, including Tel Aviv University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Bar-Ilan University, Ben-Gurion University, Ariel University, and the Technion in Haifa.
