Transport Minister Miri Regev has called for entrepreneurs to submit proposals for two pilot projects in Israel aimed at reducing traffic congestion. These projects include a trackless train and a sea shuttle, which are expected to ease the burden on roads across the country. The sea shuttles will travel between ports and docks in cities such as Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netanya, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Hadera, Haifa, and Acre. Companies involved in the development will need to provide details on the type of sea transport, speed, capacity, and comfort levels of the shuttles.
The proposed “wheel trains” are inspired by successful operations in China and are intended to be launched by current public transport companies. These projects were previously supported by Regev during her previous term and have now been resumed to improve mobility in Israel. The aim is to provide passengers with new convenient transportation options that will change their travel habits and reduce travel times between different parts of the country.
