The location, situated at the intersection with Downs Drive just north of Interstate 90, is expected to open by late September. Despite the work that needs to be done to prepare the business for operation, Jack Lee, Summit Township supervisor, considers the small lot a great location.
Take 5 Oil Change is a company that started near New Orleans in 1984 and is known for offering quick oil changes where customers can stay in their vehicles. The franchise in Summit Township is one of eight new locations planned to open in Pennsylvania by 2024. A sister company, Take 5 Car Wash, was established in 2020.
The intersection at Peach Street and Downs Drive has seen a significant increase in traffic over the past several years. According to a survey conducted by PennDOT, 22,000 vehicles passed through the intersection in the past while a recent survey conducted by the township showed that number increased to 33,000 vehicles in just 24 hours. This highlights the growing demand for services like those offered by Take 5 Oil Change.
