Baptist Health, a Kentucky and Indiana hospital operator, has joined forces with Encompass Health, the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, to open a new 40-bed facility in Louisville. This hospital offers recovery services to patients who have experienced strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and other conditions.
The facility features private patient rooms, a therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies, a dining room, and an in-house pharmacy. An interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and physicians provide physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Patients at this hospital receive a minimum of three hours of therapy for five days each week, physician visits, and 24-hour nursing care.
Baptist Health CEO Gerard Colman expressed excitement about this new hospital and described it as a way to meet strategic goals by combining next-generation healthcare with improved access to care for the community. Encompass Health’s Central region president, Troy Dedecker, commented on the hospital’s design that prioritizes patient needs as they recover strength
