Summer opening of new Putnam County sports complex

The Putnam County Bank Sports Complex, a new addition to Hurricane Bridge Park, has officially opened for the summer season in Hurricane, West Virginia. The complex features four baseball fields and is expected to draw in visitors and contribute to the economic development of Hurricane and its surrounding areas.

The Mayor of Hurricane, Scott Edwards, expressed excitement about the economic impact and benefits the new complex will bring to the city. He emphasized the importance of providing quality facilities for the youth in the community. Mayor Edwards believes that investing in amenities for kids and grandkids is key to building a stronger community.

Ashley Alford Glance, President of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, advised local businesses to prepare for increased foot traffic due to tournaments at the new complex. She expressed enthusiasm about the potential growth in Putnam County, citing the positive impact of recreational opportunities on the community. Glance encouraged utilizing existing assets to attract more visitors and continue the growth of businesses in the area.

Other features at Hurricane Bridge Park include a disc golf course, batting cages, and a baseball-themed playground. Sixty teams are set to compete at various parks in Putnam County, with the first game scheduled for 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 1st.
