New Orleans Metropolitan Area Wrestling Coach Andrew Nicola Takes Over John Curtis High School as New Coach.

John Curtis Welcomes Andrew Nicola as Their New Wrestling Coach in Prep Sports

New Orleans metro area wrestling coach Andrew Nicola has been appointed as the new coach of John Curtis High School, succeeding former coach John Kendrick. Nicola is familiar with the area and has a successful track record in winning LHSAA state championships.

Nicola previously coached at Brother Martin High School, where he led the team to two Division I state titles during his five-year tenure. He also served as an assistant coach when the team won the state title in 2019. After the 2024 season, Brother Martin announced that Nicola would not be continuing as coach and later hired Nick Shields, a three-time LHSAA state wrestling champion and 2008 graduate, as the new head coach.

The transition at Curtis represents a new chapter for the wrestling program, with the school aiming to build on its recent successes and continue to compete at a high level in the LHSAA. With Nicola’s experience and track record, Curtis is hopeful that he will be able to lead the team to further victories and accomplishments in the future. Stay tuned for updates on how the team progresses under Nicola’s leadership.
