Renowned New Orleans Developer and Hotelier Joe Jaeger Passes Away | Business News

Joe Jaeger Jr., a prominent New Orleans developer and hotelier, has passed away in a North Shore hospital after sustaining injuries from a crash a few days ago. According to family friend and business associate Mike Sherman, Jaeger had been in the hospital for several days with multiple fractures before succumbing to his injuries on Sunday morning.

Jaeger was known for his humble beginnings in New Orleans and eventually becoming the owner of the largest group of hotels in the Greater New Orleans area. He owned more than two dozen properties, including well-known hotels like the Jung Hotel and boutique gems like the Bourbon Orleans Hotel.

After graduating from Holy Cross School, Jaeger dropped out of Southeastern Louisiana University in the 1950s and worked full-time as a plumber’s apprentice. Known for being a workaholic, he worked his way up the ranks of the Mechanical Construction Co. and eventually bought the company in the 1980s.

Jaeger is survived by his wife Becky and sons Joey and Ryan. This is a developing story and more details will be provided as they become available.
