New Oklahoma City Skyscraper Promises to Outstrip the US and Become a Sixth Tallest Building Worldwide

America’s tallest skyscraper project is designed to withstand tornadoes

In Oklahoma City, a new skyscraper is set to be constructed, reaching a height of 581 meters. This will make it the tallest building in America, surpassing the current record held by the One World Trade Center in New York City. The proposed building, Legends Tower, was initially planned to be the second tallest building in the US but has since been upgraded to reach even greater heights.

The project site for Legends Tower will be located in a parking lot near railway tracks and a warehouse. Surrounding the main skyscraper will be three smaller buildings, each standing at 105 meters in height. The total estimated cost of the project is reported to be $1.6 billion.

Despite facing challenges such as financial viability and vulnerability to tornadoes, the Oklahoma City Planning Commission has approved the project. Construction is expected to begin in July this year, as indicated by project developer Scot Matteson.

Legends Tower will house approximately 1,750 residential apartments along with a luxury hotel. The building is expected to rank 6th in the list of the world’s tallest buildings, following China’s Ping An International Financial Center. Its construction is set to revolutionize the skyline of Oklahoma City and bring about economic growth in the region.
