New No. 1 in 5×5 ROS Rankings: Top Third Baseman, Cubs’ Morel and Triple-A Prospect Lipcius Impress

Yahoo Sports’ rankings of third basemen for June

In this June edition of rest-of-season position rankings and overall top 300 for 5×5 leagues, there is a new No. 1 overall player. Despite the fact that many of the best pitchers are injured, only about 120 players in the majors are currently capable of hitting.

The Third Baseman ROS Rankings have been updated with players dropping off the list such as Ernie Clement, Nick Madrigal, Tyler Nevin, and Eguy Rosario. Christopher Morel has shown improvement in reducing his strikeout rate and increasing his walk rate, but a low BABIP has impacted his average. However, his underlying stats suggest he should be performing better, and the Cubs continue to show confidence in him by keeping him in the cleanup spot.

Andre Lipcius, a recent pickup from the Tigers organization, has been performing well in Triple-A Oklahoma City with a .318/.389/.594 batting line, 14 homers, and six steals. Some believe he should have been called up by the Dodgers to fill in for Max Muncy, as players like Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernández have not been producing consistently. However, it’s uncertain if Lipcius is a viable option at second base over Gavin Lux.
