New NHL Team to Debut in Salt Lake City: The Utah Hockey Club Makes Its Mark on the Ice

Utah Hockey Club Announces Temporary Name and Jerseys for 2024-25 Season: Pass or Fail?

In Salt Lake City, a new hockey team is set to debut in the fall. The Utah Hockey Club has already been announced as the temporary name of the team, and its jerseys and colors have been unveiled. The color scheme includes rock black, salt white, and mountain blue, which is meant to reflect the spirit of Utah and its natural landscape.

The sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to businessman Ryan Smith was approved by the NHL’s Board of Governors in April. Smith already owns several other sports teams, including the NBA’s Utah Jazz, MLS’s Real Salt Lake, NWSL’s Utah Royals, G League’s Salt Lake City Stars, minor league baseball’s Salt Lake Bees, and MLS Next Pro’s Real Monarchs. The sale agreement allows for former Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo to potentially secure an expansion franchise in Arizona if a new arena is obtained within five years.

Currently, fans are participating in a voting process to determine the team’s permanent name. Six options are available, including Utah Hockey Club, Utah Blizzard, Utah Mammoth, Utah Outlaws
