A new restaurant has recently opened its doors in Aiken, Okinawa Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bowl, on April 22 at 1695 Richland Ave. East. The eatery is owned by Oscar Salas, with Frank Salas serving as the manager. This location was previously home to Sombreros, a Mexican restaurant that closed last year. Okinawa’s menu boasts a variety of Far Eastern cuisine options, including hibachi entrees, bento boxes, cooked and raw bowls, udon, soba, and tempura. Appetizers such as spring rolls, rock shrimp, salt and pepper calamari, fried calamari, and skewered grilled chicken are also available along with soups and salads. A dine-in menu is specifically for children aged 10 and younger.
Meanwhile at La Parisienne French restaurant and bakery in Aiken, owner David Meunier has welcomed a new partner Darius Krzywinski who is a chef. Meunier shared that Krzywinski is buying into the business with the goal of enhancing the dining experience for patrons. La Parisienne offers breakfast and lunch with dinner service becoming more regular starting this week. Menu items include steak frites, steak au poivre, steak tartare, grilled salmon mussels and chicken with white wine mushroom sauce on mashed potatoes. Last summer Meunier had initially partnered with Trey Bennett in La Parisienne but the collaboration did not work out as planned.
