In his recent state of the county address, Bill Rivenbark, chairman of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, highlighted the county’s appeal for both business and leisure. Reflecting on the past year, Rivenbark emphasized the achievements that have shaped the community. These accomplishments span various areas including business development, education, workforce housing, public safety, health care, and environmental stewardship.

Rivenbark specifically pointed out the county’s successful partnerships with organizations like Wilmington Business Development and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce, which have resulted in significant investments from businesses along the U.S. 421 corridor. He mentioned projects such as the Wilmington Trade Center and the recent groundbreaking for Kessebohmer’s new headquarters, signaling ongoing growth in the area.

In addition to highlighting economic achievements, Rivenbark also addressed workforce housing issues in New Hanover County. He discussed how over $15 million has been invested in this area over a five-year period and emphasized its importance to creating a sustainable economy and attracting talented individuals to move to our community.
