The Golden State Warriors have acquired Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers, following Klay Thompson’s departure to the Dallas Mavericks. Hield signed a two-year, $21 million guaranteed deal with a partial guarantee in the third year and a player option in the fourth year. In exchange for Hield, the Warriors sent a 2031 second-round pick to the 76ers.
Hield, known for his 3-point shooting, averaged 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game this season while playing for the Indiana Pacers and the 76ers. His addition to the team will partner him with Stephen Curry in the backcourt, creating a formidable duo known as the next iteration of the Splash Brothers. With both players ranking at the top of the league in 3-pointers made over the past five seasons, Hield is seen as a logical replacement for Thompson.
