New Funding and Certifications for UGA Small Business Development Center: Empowering Entrepreneurs in Georgia

Senator Ossoff secures $250,000 to aid Georgia small businesses

UGA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) recently received over $250,000 in funding from President Biden to assist small businesses in Georgia access new funding opportunities. This bill was championed by Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, who believes that entrepreneurs in all regions of Georgia should have access to capital, mentorship, and markets.

The UGA SBDC has already been managing small business centers throughout the state for five years and has helped over 2,000 businesses start and secure over $1 billion in financing. Kyle Hensel, director of Continuing Education for the UGA Small Business Development Center, stated that the funding will be used to help more women and veterans obtain certifications. Webinars and in-person programs will cover topics such as women’s certifications, veteran certifications, and utilizing these certifications to increase sales with the government.
