New Facility Boosts Intermountain’s Pediatric Behavioral Health Services and Fulfillment of ‘Primary Promise’ for Children’s Healthcare

Construction set to begin on $96 million pediatric behavioral health facility

Intermountain’s pediatric behavioral health services will receive a boost with the opening of a new facility in Taylorsville, Utah. The $96 million medical center is set to open in late 2025 and will replace the current Wasatch Canyons Behavioral Health Campus. The new center will provide mental health crisis care for youth and expand its services to include a walk-in crisis center.

The state-of-the-art facility will also house family engagement areas, day treatment, group therapy, and an inpatient unit for youth with autism and neuro-diverse needs. The 90,000 square foot medical center is expected to help Intermountain fulfill its “Primary Promise” of creating a model for children’s healthcare across its seven-state region.

The old Wasatch Canyons campus, originally built in the 1980s, was converted into a behavioral health facility. However, the demand for services has outgrown the space. With this new facility set to open in late 2025, Intermountain can continue to provide top-notch care to children across its region.
