Local authorities’ education department heads signed a collective labor agreement

In a positive development for the education sector, the Ministry of Finance, the Center for Local Government, and the teachers’ union have come together to sign a new collective labor agreement with heads of education departments in municipalities. The agreement outlines several key provisions aimed at improving the working conditions and compensation for these important figures in the sector.

One of the main provisions of the agreement is a retroactive salary increase of NIS 866 from January 2024. Additionally, heads of education departments will receive a 3.8% salary increase in two installments, starting in January 2025 and January 2026. To further sweeten the deal, a one-time bonus of NIS 6,000 will be provided in two installments in July 2024 and January 2025.

Another significant aspect of the agreement is its focus on equity in compensation and working conditions for heads of education departments across all levels. This move towards fair treatment and support for these important roles is a positive step towards ensuring that all educators are valued and compensated fairly.
