New Chapter for Controversial Dubai Archipelago: Siblings Plan High-End Residential Community on Amali Island

The once-controversial artificial archipelago built in the shape of a world map in Dubai is now set to be revived by the children of billionaire developer Hussain Sajwani. Ali Sajwani, aged 33, and his sister Amira, aged 29, have plans to build 24 mansions, a beach club, two helipads, and boat berths on a 1.2 million square-feet island they have named Amali.

The siblings are looking to create a high-end residential community on the artificial island, with mansions starting at $13.6 million. This project marks a new chapter for the once troubled development, showcasing the ambition and vision of the younger generation within the Sajwani family.

Hussain Sajwani, the father of Ali and Amira, is the founder of Damac Properties PJSC, a privately-held developer with a net worth of $3.2 billion according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The siblings’ plans for Amali Island reflect their determination to turn the development into a profitable venture and leave behind their father’s legacy as a symbol of excessive spending that nearly led Dubai to bankruptcy.
