The University of Pennsylvania Health System is pleased to announce the appointment of Julia Puchtler as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective July 1. Puchtler will succeed Keith Kasper, who will transition into the role of Chief Administrative Officer for the nonprofit health system.

Puchtler has been serving as CFO at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in University City since 2015. The hospital has over 1,000 beds and sees more than 2.2 million outpatient visits annually. In her new role, Puchtler will be overseeing various facilities including the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, Penn Medicine Radnor and Valley Forge, and the Interventional Support Center in Southwest Philadelphia. At the Interventional Support Center, employees work to sterilize and package instruments for surgeries and procedures.

The health system CEO Kevin B. Mahoney praised Puchtler for her financial expertise and business acumen, stating that she will help guide the organization through the evolving financial landscape in a position of strength. Prior to joining Penn, Puchtler held finance positions at Trinity Health and Catholic Health East. Meanwhile, Kasper has been the health system’s CFO for two decades and oversaw acquisitions of Chester County Hospital, Lancaster General Health, and Princeton Health during his tenure. The University of Pennsylvania Health System is confident in Puchtler’s ability to continue the organization’s financial success and growth.
